An Introduction To Internet Programming

This tutorial explains the fundamental concepts behind Internet programming, such as the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), the User Datagram Protocol (UDP), domain names, asynchronous sockets and much more. If you've never written an Internet application before and are unfamiliar with much of the terminology, we recommend that you download and read through this tutorial. SocketWrench Video Tutorial

This video tutorial demonstrates how to create a simple client application to retrieve an HTML document from a web server using the SocketWrench .NET component with Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Basic. It explains many of the basic concepts that are used in all Internet applications, such as initializing the network connection, connecting to the server, exchanging data and terminating the connection. This video tutorial requires that you have the Adobe Flash plug-in installed with your browser.
