Catalyst Development Opens New Web Site

Yucca Valley, CA, October 21, 1996 - Catalyst Development Corporation, developers of SocketTools, announces their new Web site with “free gifts” for all visitors to http://www.catalyst.com. Look around, sign the guest book and download useful software and informative articles. Catalyst offers several free products for the developer community.

Many TCP/IP programmers got their start with Catalyst SocketWrench, a freeware, Visual Basic custom control that allows the developer to create powerful server and client network applications over TCP/IP. This product is offered as freeware to demonstrate the way in which Catalyst Development does business. SocketWrench strikes a balance between ease-of-use and advanced, powerful, yet flexible, capabilities; all necessary for a quality developer tool.

“An Introduction to TCP/IP Programming” is an article that removes the mystique and simplifies a task that is perceived by many developers as being beyond their capabilities. If a programmer can open a file, access it by reading from and/or writing to it, and close the file, he can create a sophisticated network application with SocketWrench.

Programmers in the game community will appreciate Internet Fantan. This freeware gives programmers who are new to developing games for the Internet, the capability of doing so. Fantan can be played alone or on the Internet in “real time” by up to four concurrent users. This capability is provided through the inclusion of Catalyst SocketWrench. This package demystifies the process of writing games for “real time” playing on the Internet.

Catalyst SocketTools, the company’s flagship commercial package, is a suite of 13 custom controls to simplify network and Internet development. The full SocketTools package is offered for free as a 30-day evaluation. All code developed with the trial version is still functional after the product is purchased. Only $247, the package is run-time-free and for all 13 controls includes VBX and 16-bit ActiveX versions supported under Visual Basic 3.0/4.0 and 32-bit ActiveX versions supported with any compatible development environment, such as VB 4.0, Visual C++ 4.x, Delphi 2.0, and Optima ++ 1.0.
